Melissa Joan Hart is an American actress, director, producer, singer, fashion designer, and businesswoman. She is best known for her title roles in the sitcoms, "Clarissa Explains It All" (1991–1994), "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" (1996–2003), and "Melissa & Joey" (2010–2015). She has been married to musician Mark Wilkerson since July 19, 2003; together, they have three children, all boys.
Melissa's career began at age four when she began appearing regularly in commercials and on TV shows. In 1991 she landed the starring role on the Nickelodeon series "Clarissa Explains It All", a comedy about a teen girl in everyday situations, which was successful during its four-year run. The show brought her four consecutive Young Artist Award nominations, winning three. She also recorded two albums as Clarissa; "This Is What 'Na Na' Means", and a recording of "Peter and the Wolf". She was then cast in the title role for the 1996 TV movie "Sabrina the Teenage Witch", followed up by the television series of the same name which ran for seven seasons. She later collaborated on an animated version where she voiced the two aunts Hilda and Zelda, while her younger sister Emily starred in the title role.
In 1998, Melissa appeared in the film "Can't Hardly Wait", followed by a starring role in "Drive Me Crazy", opposite Adrian Grenier. Her friend Britney Spears remixed her top-ten hit song "(You Drive Me) Crazy" for the movie's soundtrack.
In 2010, Melissa returned to a new weekly television series, starring with Joey Lawrence in the sitcom "Melissa & Joey". In the series Hart plays a woman who hires Lawrence as a nanny to help care for her incarcerated sister's children. In 2013 she published her memoir, "Melissa Explains It All: Tales from My Abnormally Normal Life", where she wrote about growing up, being a child actor and her rise to fame, her rebellious teen years, and her efforts to balance a career as an adult with motherhood and family life. Currently Melissa is directing Angelica Houston in The Watcher in the Woods.
