Arthur Darvill is an English actor and musician well-known as Rory Williams, one of the Eleventh Doctor's companions in Doctor Who, and as Rev. Paul Coates in Broadchurch. He's currently starring in DC's "Legends of Tomorow" as the former Time Master, Rip Hunter.
Arthur studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and is trained in stage combat. After many years in the theatre, he made his television debut in the crime drama "He Kills Coppers" in 2008, later playing Edward "Tip" Dorrit in the BBC show "Little Dorrit".
He first appeared as Rory Williams, companion to the Eleventh Doctor, in the fifth series of "Doctor Who", becoming a regular character in the sixth series. He and his co-star, Karen Gillan (on-screen wife Amy Pond) left the show in the heart-wrenching seventh series episode, "The Angels Take Manhattan".
Arthur has also appeared in Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood", and played Mick Gallagher in "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll". He performed in Doctor Faustus at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, and featured in the crime drama "Broadchurch" as vicar Paul, opposite the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant. In 2013 he took over the lead male role of Guy from the musical "Once", on Broadway. With his co-star, Joanna Christie, he appeared at the 2013 Tony Awards, both to perform and present the award for best scenery. In 2014, he took the role to London's prestigious West End.
Most recently, Arthur was cast as the time-travelling Rip Hunter in the DC series, "Legends of Tomorrow", the second series of which is currently airing.
